How to organize family trip responsibilities
Responsibility becomes easier when each active planning decision has one owner, one current state, and one next check.

Separate owners from contributors
Several people can contribute preferences or information, but one person should own the next decision. That does not centralize every task; it makes the handoff visible.
Keep the active list short
Show only the decisions that are ready for attention. Background wishes and completed research can remain available without competing with the few things the group needs to resolve now.
Close the loop after a change
When an owner updates a decision, identify the next dependency it affects. This turns group planning into a sequence of clear handoffs rather than an accumulating message thread.
